Following the publication of the roadmap out of national lockdown on 22 February, we have worked with government and stakeholders to agree restart dates for motorcycle lessons and tests.
You can read more about stopping the spread of coronavirus on GOV.UK
Motorcycle lessons and CBT will restart on 29 March, unless coronavirus data prevents government from easing restrictions as set out in step 1 of the roadmap.
Subject to step 1 of the roadmap proceeding as planned, motorcycle tests will restart after lessons and training, on 12 April 2021 to give you and candidates time for tuition ahead of their test.
We'll email candidates who booked their test directly with us for a date before 12 April to let them know their test won’t go ahead and it will be automatically rebooked.
If you booked tests for any of your pupils during this period, they will be cancelled and automatically refunded. You will need to contact your pupil to let them know.
We have shared our guidance for riding examiners with rider training associations and they have updated their good practice guidance for instructors. Links to good practice guidance are included in the instructor guidance on GOV.UK.
If motorcycle lessons and testing restart on 29 March, MMAs will be open to use for training from 29 March 2021.
We intend for theory tests to restart in England on 12 April 2021. We’ll email all candidates with theory tests booked before 12 April to ask them to reschedule their booking.
Practical and theory tests for mobile emergency worker tests which have already been booked will still take place as scheduled.
We’re working with Scottish Government and Welsh Government, who are setting out their own plans and timetables to reduce restrictions. We’ll keep you updated as these develop.
