Getting the most from DVSA email alerts

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency regularly provides email alerts and updates on all its services.

We know you’ve already signed up – but here are a few tips to make sure you’re getting all the updates you want, when you want them.

Check your subscription topics

The email alert service lets you choose which topics you get updates on.

These include:

  • Learning to drive or ride – updates on our services including driving and theory tests; news for learner drivers; news on official DVSA books and apps; weekly Highway Code reminders

  • Teaching people to drive or ride – updates on our services including driving and theory tests, and relevant government guidance for trainers; updates to the Highway Code; updates from our Despatch blog for driver and rider trainers; driver, rider and vocational trainer news; and Driver CPC updates.

You can choose to receive updates on just one of these subjects, all of them, or just a few. It’s entirely up to you.

Whether you’re a driving or riding instructor or a vocational trainer, we’d recommend logging into your account at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvsa-email-alerts and taking a few minutes to review your subscriptions to make sure you’re getting all the email alerts which are relevant to you.

Be sure to tick the checkbox next to any subjects you want to hear about within your chosen topic.

Check your preferences

Want updates on driving or theory tests as soon we have them?

You can choose how often you receive your email alerts from us in the ‘email delivery preference’ section of your account preferences.

By default, we’ll email you immediately every time an update is available.

Or, if you want, we can email you once a day, or once a week – although these options mean you will receive information later than others.

To choose how often we send you updates, please log into your account and check your Preferences. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvsa-email-alerts

If you think colleagues or others would benefit from alerts

If you think your colleagues or business would benefit from receiving DVSA email alerts, or your pupils, customers or clients would, please direct them to https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvsa-email-alerts to set up an account.
