MOT testing in English Tier 4 areas

MOT testing in English Tier 4 areas

The Prime Minister has announced new Tier 4 restrictions in England to control the spread of coronavirus.

From Sunday 20 December London, together with parts of the South East and East of England will enter Tier 4. Tier 4 restrictions will remain in place until the next formal Government review on 30 December.

You can read more about the measures on GOV.UK

What this means for MOT garages

MOT garages can remain open in English Tier 4 areas.

To help ensure MOT testing can be conducted safely, you can read our guidance for MOT testers about operating safely during coronavirus.

You and DVSA staff must wear a face covering in all indoor public areas unless you have a reasonable excuse not to. DVSA’s MOT approvals and enforcement work will also continue.

A vehicle needs to have a valid MOT if it is being used, except for the journey to a pre-booked MOT.

Thank you

Thank you for continuing to follow COVID-19 secure testing procedures. This helps reduce the risk of transmission and protect the public, your staff and DVSA staff.

We will continue to keep the situation under review in line with Government advice and provide a further update if there is a change that affects our services.
