On Friday 20 November we’ll be opening the driving test centre waiting rooms at Pembroke Dock and Newport (Gwent). This is part of a wider rollout to open some driving test centre waiting rooms nationwide, where it is safe to do so.
You can provide feedback on our COVID-secure procedures in waiting rooms at waitingroom.feedback@dvsa.gov.uk. We encourage you to do this so we can learn from the opening of your test centre waiting room and make plans to reopen others.
It continues to be our priority to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect you, your pupils, others on site and our examiners.
From Friday 20 November you’ll be given access to the waiting rooms listed but the number of visitors allowed in at any one time will be restricted to allow for social distancing.
Meet and greets and giving the test result will continue to take place outside your vehicle. Your pupil should not enter the waiting room and should remain by the car. They can still use our toilet and washroom facilities if they need to as has been the case throughout.
The number of people allowed in each waiting room will depend on its size and the maximum number will be shown on a sign on the door. We may not be able to accommodate all accompanying drivers. You must bring and wear a face covering when in the waiting room, unless you have a good reason not to wear it. This includes if:
- you have a physical or mental illness or impairment, or a disability that means you cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering
- putting on, wearing or removing a face covering would cause you severe distress.
If you use the test centre waiting room you will need to record your visit by scanning the QR code on the poster in the test centre waiting room to ‘check in’.
Alternatively, you can record your visit on the paper log in the waiting room. We will provide wipes and a pen but you may want to use your own.
We’ll continue to work with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and advise instructor associations about when more of our waiting room facilities can be made available safely.
