We wrote to you in September to let you know that we would be increasing the number of car driving tests our examiners are able to provide.
From Monday 19 October our examiners will start to increase the number of tests they carry out from 5 to 6 per day.
This increase will help reduce waiting times for a practical test.
As we switch from 5 to 6 tests, examiners may be running a little late for some tests. If this is the case, please wait with your car until your examiner is free. This increased flexibility will allow time for measures to be taken against the spread of COVID-19.
From Saturday 3 October some of our examiners will start to use the 6 test programme on a weekend day.
As a result of our measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 some tests may run late. Again, if this is the case, please wait with your car until your examiner is free.
DVSA's priority is to keep our staff and customers safe and we will continue to follow the Government’s health guidance for driver and rider tests to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Because of COVID-19 you must ventilate and clean the inside of your car before your test. This means wiping down surfaces and tidying. The examiner will do an additional clean of some surfaces.
Please be patient if following safety measures causes a delay to the start of your candidate's test.
Since reopening the public online driver test booking service in August, we stopped accepting any new registrations for the online business service.
As test bookings start to return to a normal level, from 5 October we will be accepting new registrations for the online business service again.
You can register to use the service on GOV.UK.
