How we've updated the MOT testing service: 8 September 2017

Last night we made some more improvements to the MOT testing service.

To improve the way we display test quality information (TQI), you can now see:

  • information for the previous months’ tests
  • information for the previous 3 months’ tests
  • the tester’s ‘Failures by category’ by clicking on the ‘View’ link

Previous tests data

Features of the ‘Failures by category’ screen

This will give you the choice of seeing:

  • information for the previous month
  • information for the last 3 months

You’ll also be able to see a site average for each of the ‘Failures by category’. This will help you to better compare testers at the same testing station.

Other developments

You may notice that the comma separated values (CSV) file to download tester information has been removed. We're working on a better version of this which will be available for you soon.

We're finalising guidance to help you better understand TQI and test logs to help identify anything unusual and improve MOT test quality - we'll let you know when this is available.
