Helping consumers make a more informed choice

From today (Thursday 28 July), approved driving instructors (ADIs) can choose to publish their standards check grading and score.

DVSA will be encouraging ADIs to opt into displaying this information so that it appears on the ‘Find your nearest driving instructor’ service on GOV.UK.

This will help consumers to make a more informed decision when using the service. It will help them to identify the best instructors in their area and understand what level of tuition they’ll get.

What else will be displayed?

ADIs can also use the service to show that they’ve signed up to the ADI code of practice and to show they’re carrying out ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD).

Who will be listed?

The ‘Find your nearest approved driving instructor’ service only lists those ADIs who are fully qualified.

Consumers can also check that their ADI is qualified by looking for the green hexagonal certificate that must be displayed in their car windscreen during instruction.
