How to recognise an official DVSA email

Advice on how to recognise whether an email you receive has genuinely come from DVSA.

We've been made aware of a number of cases where emails advertising MOT training courses, have been made to look like they’ve been sent from DVSA.

Here are a few things you can look out for to help you tell that it's a genuine DVSA email:

  • all genuine emails from DVSA will be from 'Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency <dvsa@public.govdelivery.com>
  • we never ask recipients to open a link, using the words “click here” – we always name the document or service, for example: “using the check MOT history service on GOV.UK”
  • DVSA will never attach any files to an email
  • all genuine emails from DVSA will have the following text at the bottom: "This email was sent to (your email) using GovDelivery, on behalf of: Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency · Berkeley House, Croydon Street · Bristol, BS5 0DA · 0300 123 9000"
