Changes to the LGV Register of Instructors

DVSA is changing the way the LGV register of instructors is run from one managed by DVSA to an industry-led register.

DVSA is working closely with the vocational training industry and other stakeholders to agree arrangements for handing over the responsibility of the register. This will mean we can focus more on licence acquisition testing.

Transitional arrangements

Between now and the end of 2016 there will be 3 routes of entry onto the LGV Register:

    • Accredited centres confirm competence of instructors for initial registration or re-registration. There will be no DVSA registration fee.
    • DVSA qualifying examinations until 31 December 2016. Fees will be applicable for the qualifying exams, but registration up until 31 December 2016 will be free.
    • Completing a course with a Defence Licence Acquisition Instructor (D.L.A.I.). Registration will be free.

We'll keep you updated on the progress.
