Helping people with sight loss
It’s National Eye Health Week from 23 -29 Sept, promoting the importance of good eye health.
Dudley Council’s Vision Support Service works to help people who have significant sight loss – where glasses are unable to help them, cataracts are a problem, or they have a sight loss condition such as macular degeneration. The service will be highlighting the importance of good eye health, along with support that can help with sight loss, during Eye Health Week.
There's lots of information, advice and support on offer to anyone with sight loss, to make life easier from the service, including a free assessment at home, looking at how a person is managing, equipment that may help, home adaptations and other help with things such as help getting out and about with confidence.

Protect yourself from winter illnesses
As we wave goodbye to summer, we need to be thinking about protecting ourselves from winter illnesses.
Flu vaccinations - will start from September for pregnant women, young children, people over 65, or in a care home. Look out for invites from your GP.
RSV - two new respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination programmes will be introduced in September. A programme to protect infants by vaccinating pregnant women (from 28 weeks) and a programme for older adults aged 75 to 79 years old
RSV is a common virus, but for some, it can be much more serious. The new vaccination will help to prevent thousands of cases of RSV, GP visits and hospital admissions. Find out more.
