Sal Thirlway, Service Director of Education, SEND & Family Solutions
Welcome to our latest Stakeholder SEND Bulletin.
Let me start by saying all our Delivering Better Value (DBV) workstreams are progressing well. Allow me to summarise the progress below:
Workstream One: Redesigning Our CIPS Service (Formerly Known as Specialist Inclusion Services)
Our main focus remains on redesigning both service areas, Communication and Interaction (C&I) and Physical and Sensory (P&S) needs. We aim to integrate these services seamlessly and align our service delivery with the identified needs and priorities of children and young people. We are also working towards rolling out our OAIP (Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision) framework across schools. The OAIP framework defines the standard support that all schools should be able to provide to children with SEND as part of their everyday teaching. This means that children with SEND will receive the necessary support within their regular school environment.
Additionally, we are pleased to report that we have co-produced the development of our SEND Self-Evaluation Framework (SEF). The SEF will be used to systematically assess and improve Dudley's performance in supporting children with SEND. Next steps will include, creating targeted improvement plans, tracking our progress, and ensuring we are held accountable for delivering high-quality support to children and young people with SEND.
Workstream Two: Developing Our Sufficiency Strategy
We are now midway through the development of our sufficiency strategy, and we anticipate completing the strategy in the coming months. This strategy is crucial in making sure that every child and young person in Dudley has access to the appropriate support and resources they need, when they need them.
We look forward to providing further DBV progress updates in our July bulletin.
