Welcome from Helen
In this edition, you will find information on events and workshops hosted by SENDIASS for the Autumn and details on the Ofsted and CQC Inspection consultations. Finally, it would be remiss of me not to mention all the great things that have happened to celebrate the Commonwealth Games in the borough!
We are also working with the Department for Education to ensure that our improvement programme addresses, moving forward, the issues that were highlighted by the Joint Local Area SEND re-visit in February. We hope to publish our accelerated progress plan by the Autumn Term.

Ofsted and CQC launch consultation for new inspection provision framework for children and young people with SEND
In June the Office for Standards in Education, Children Services and Skills (Ofsted) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) launched a consultation on proposals for a new joint framework for inspecting provision for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) within a local area. The new inspections will be introduced in early 2023.
The new framework will focus on the experiences and outcomes of children and young people with SEND.
Celebrate the Games in Dudley!

As part of celebrating the Games in Dudley, the Council and partners want to thank all of you that have got involved in the great things that have been happening in the borough to celebrate the biggest international sporting event ever to be held in the region.
We have hosted a number of free festival events, which we combined with our Play Week from 1 – 8 August, for all the family to enjoy and watch the Games live on giant screens.

Dudley borough also welcomed the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games men’s and women’s cycling time trials on Thursday 4 August. We are grateful to everyone for their patience with the road closures, and a big thanks to those of you who lined the streets to make Dudley’s contribution to the Games extra special! It was great to see so many world class athletes making their way through the streets of our home town. |
