As a borough resident you’ll be receiving your 2022 waste collection leaflet through your letterbox and we are asking you to keep it in a safe place.
The leaflet is your one-stop shop for all things waste collection related – household, recycling and green waste pick up dates, details of what can/cannot be recycled, hints and tips and information about the journey your recycling takes once it’s gathered.
Learn about the journey your recycling makes every time it is collected and then taken onto specialist recycling plants. Cans and metals are sorted and squashed then formed into bales. Plastics are organised by colour, shredded, heated and turned into pellets. Glass is separated by colour, crushed and then melted for reuse. Paper and card are shredded, pulped and bleached. Green waste is turned into compost. See the leaflet when it arrives for more information about the journey.

Find out what can, and can’t, be placed within the recycling bags and boxes. The blue bag takes paper, card and cardboard, but did you know that plastic bags and cartons should not be disposed of here? The green bag is for plastic bottles, tin cans and aerosols, but did you know that we can now accept all plastic pots, food trays and tubs, except black ones? The black box should be used for glass bottles and jars, and you can even dispose of broken drinks glasses within this box. The green bin is for garden waste but did you know that food waste, including vegetable scrapings cannot be placed with it due to Animal By-product Regulations. The grey bin, should include nothing which can be recycled.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Stourbridge is a free facility for you to dispose of unwanted items.
The online system now makes its far easier to book your drop off slot, or call 0300 333 2345.
Great news - as you live in the Dudley borough you can now recycle a wider range of plastic waste through your fortnightly kerbside recycling collection.
Help us to recycle more plastics in your green bag please!
Christmas and New Year collections
Great news for borough residents - there will be no disruption to our collection schedule over the festive period this year.
Your pickup date will remain unaltered as Christmas falls on the weekend.

To help us to ensure the efficiency of our recycling, could you please:
- Rinse out dirty containers, particularly food containers, as they contaminate the recycling
- Keep paper and card dry as moisture reduces recyclability
- Don’t put recycling in plastic bags
- Break down cardboard into manageable sizes and place within the blue bag
- Squash plastic bottles and put the top back on – this allows us to load more onto our vehicles
- Make sure lids to the garden and household waste bins are closed. Please do not overfill
You can now arrange for unwanted mattresses, bed bases, carpets, armchairs and underlay to be collected and recycled, for a small fee. Simply call Textek on 01948 840 251 to find out more.
A bulky waste collection service is available for larger items, such as furniture and white goods – if you are unable to take them to a charity, or the household waste recycling centre. It is a chargeable service – call 0300 555 2345 to arrange.
We would like to say a great big thank you to all of our borough residents. Recycling helps to conserve natural resources, reduce carbon emissions and any income collected from this process helps to offset some of our operational costs.
