What is Early Help?

Early Help is taking action early in order to provide support to families where problems are emerging. It can help to build on family’s strengths and identify areas where support may be needed.

Can Early Help support you and your family?

We can support you with:

•  Worries about your child’s health development or behaviour

•  Worries about how your child is doing at school

•  Worries about money or housing and how that is affecting you

• If your child and family may be affected by domestic abuse, drugs, alcohol,
ill health or crime

Dudley Borough Family Centres

There are currently have five Family Centres around the borough that can offer support to you and your family.

Our borough Family Centres are now open, but with limited walk-in services due to COVID-19 restrictions. You can however get information and support by calling the centres below between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday:

Parenting transitions programme

Dudley Parenting service now offers a new transitions parenting programme for parents who have separated/divorced from the other parent of their child and would like help with stress, communication and managing the challenges that this can bring to their family.

Triple P online parenting programme

Dudley parents/carers with children aged up to 16 years, can access a free online parenting programme which includes a new module with tips and strategies to help while we’re staying at home more. 

Coming soon, the Solihull approach online

Free programmes and workshops for all Dudley parents/carers, from pregnancy to teenagers. Courses will include: 

• Antenatal • Postnatal • Understanding your child • Understanding your child with additional needs • Understanding your teenager's brain • Understanding your brain (for teenagers only).

Could a Family Group Conference (FGC) help you and your family?

A FGC is an opportunity to get together to try to find a solution to a problem or to find ways to support your family. FGCs are taking place virtually during the pandemic.

Little Chick Book - Getting ready to start school

Is your child starting school after the summer? Now might be a good time to start talking to them about it. You can use the Little Chick book to talk about what it will be like for your child when they start school and how you can get ready.
