COVID Community Champions

Why not become a COVID Champion?

Are you active in your community?

Have you been striving to ensure everyone you care about understands the information out there about COVID-19?

Do you want to help combat the depth of conflicting information and fake news about coronavirus?

If you answered yes, then you’re the person we’re looking for.

We are recruiting public minded people, just like you, who would be able to reach their local community, including family, neighbours, friends and colleagues, to disseminate material relating to coronavirus.  The champion’s aim will be to ensure everyone receives consistent, up to date, information to allow those within their circle to make informed decisions about the virus, how best to tackle it and dismiss myths about the virus.

Basically, we would like YOU to become one of our COVID Community Champion.

As a COVID Champion, you will be at the forefront, helping and representing your area.  You will be kept fully informed about COVID-19, be able to advise us about how to improve our response to the pandemic and help individuals to make informed decisions. 

We welcome new champions from all wards within the Dudley borough, but we particularly want to recruit representatives from the following areas:

• Amblecote
• Belle Vale
• Coseley East
• Sedgley
• Gornal
• Halesowen North
• Halesowen South
• Wordsley
• Norton
• Pedmore & Stourbridge East
• No prior volunteering experience is required, and applications are invited from anyone living or working in the borough.  Applicants need to be genuinely interested in helping and assisting their community and can dedicate as much time to the initiative as they want.

World Book Day is a celebration of reading, authors, illustrators and books. 

Dudley Libraries 📗

Libraries across Dudley borough have re-opened to offer a click and collect service on books for residents. Books can be ordered online.

Fun resources including activity sheets, lesson plans and discussion guides for nursery, primary and secondary years. FREE audiobooks for all ages. YouTube videos including stories for under 5s and masterclasses from some of your favourite authors and illustrators. Himley Hall & Park open to public

The grounds of Himley Hall and Park are now fully open to the public after a temporary coronavirus testing centre left the park. People are urged to follow social distancing guidelines and the latest restrictions at all times.

Adult Community Learning online 💻

Fancy learning a new skill whilst at home?

Dudley’s Adult Community Learning Service is offering many classes through online learning. They are also offering an employability support package for residents and businesses and one-to-one support for those seeking employment or volunteering.

Free school meals for February half-term 

Thousands of eligible children in Dudley borough are to be offered free school meals during the February half term.

Families who require further help and support can contact the Dudley Covid-19 support helpline on 0300 3302 152 from Monday to Friday (9:30am and 12:30pm).

Feeling unwell? Get tested

People who live in Dudley borough are being invited to take a Covid-19 test if they are feeling unwell, even if they are not displaying the three key symptoms.

The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
