The Up on the Downs Landscape Partnership Scheme is a five year Heritage Lottery Funded project involving a wide range of partners. Up on the Downs aims to work with local communities to conserve and celebrate the landscape and heritage of the Dover and Folkestone area.

Big Summer Festival 2017
The final details for this year's bigger, better and hopefully sunnier Big Summer Festival are just being prepared and we will soon be going to press. There will be something for people of all ages from family fun days to walking tours and visits to 21st Century architecture that truly enhance the landscape. The programme will be available to download from the Up on the Downs website and to pick up from various outlets in the Dover and Folkestone area later in the spring.
At
Cherry Garden Hill we have been working with our partners to clear
vegetation from a Bronze Age barrow and WW2 pillbox
to protect them for future generations and to provide public access. As
well as protecting the barrow from tree roots, we have been able to
increase the area for flower rich chalk grassland in the hills above

Up on the Downs has developed a range of materials that can be used by teachers to assist with outdoor learning over a wide spectrum of subjects in the curriculum. These resources have their very own Teaching Up on the Downs website.
