Help shape the rules about responsible dog ownership in Doncaster
We’re updating our Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) and we want to hear from you.
A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has been in place in Doncaster for several years now, setting out clear expectations for dog owners and outlining how those who don’t follow the rules will be penalised. Now that the order is coming up for renewal, we want to make sure that it continues to meet your standards and that it is fairly balanced.
Whether you’re a dog owner or just enjoy our local parks, tell us your thoughts:
Refreshed City Borough Strategy approved by Full Council
This week, Full Council approved the refreshed Team Doncaster City Borough Strategy, marking a key step in shaping the city’s future.
Feedback from recent consultations has contributed to the priorities and actions highlighted in the strategy with thousands of respondents telling us what they like about their community and what they would like to see improved.
With a strong focus on the future, Doncaster is ready to progress and make ambitious choices about what comes next.

City of Doncaster Council Cracks Down on Smoking in Enclosed Spaces
Following a recent prosecution, we are reminding the public that it is against the law to smoke in any enclosed workplace or public building. This is something that we take very seriously here in Doncaster, as it can expose others to the harmful effects of second-hand, and even third-hand, smoke.
We recently fined a local taxi driver on these grounds after he was spotted smoking in his cab by our Environmental enforcement team. A standard Fixed Penalty Notice of £50 was issued for this offence in the first instance, however, that amount subsequently increased when the individual failed to pay their fine. Following court proceedings, they have now been ordered to pay a total of £446.05.
Help shape research in child weight management services
We are working with University of Leeds on a project looking at how child weight management programmes affect children’s health and happiness in the long run. We would like local people to join a research group to make sure the project is asking the right questions and focused on what they think is important.
Group meetings will take place every three months and there will be a payment for your time.
