Storm Claudia Update

Due to the wet weather we’ve seen today (Friday), and forecast for tonight and into the weekend, we are currently working with partners and closely monitoring the situation across the city to ensure we’re ready to respond to any issues which may arise.

Our teams have been out this afternoon proactively targeting some of the known areas of risk with support and reassurance. Our colleagues will also be on the ground into the evening and weekend to continually assess any potential impacts for residents and communities.

At the time of sending there is one Flood Warning in place, for the River Idle in Nottinghamshire, which could impact Bawtry, Austerfield and Finningley.

We will keep you up to date if we receive any further Flood Warnings or Alerts from the Environment Agency.

As well as potential flooding risks, we are also expecting a lot of surface water on our roads, so please drive carefully and avoid driving through any flood waters.

To stay up to date follow us on our social media channels or visit our dedicated webpage.

Mayor Ros Jones is asking for the views of residents on Doncaster Sheffield Airport

This week a consultation was launched to gauge views on how often residents would like to use the airport and what destinations they’d like to see served.

The consultation also asks for any interesting stories of when residents have used the airport previously.

A number of key decisions will be made in the coming weeks in relation to plans to fully reopen Doncaster Sheffield Airport, with the views of those who plan to use seen as crucial to it’s ultimate success.

Fly-Tipping Fortnight

As part of national Fight Fly-Tipping Fortnight, we’d like to remind the public that waste crime is an offence that we take very seriously in Doncaster and that we thoroughly investigate.

With the help of comprehensive CCTV and other equipment, our dedicated officers will catch those responsible for fly-tipping in our city.

Over the past year alone, they have issued 89 fines, served 153 legal notices and secured 24 successful prosecutions for fly-tipping related offences. Depending on how severe the case is, offenders could potentially even be given a prison sentence. So, it’s definitely not worth taking the risk!
