Community spirit is high in the south of Doncaster! Find out about Christmas events, local support and why we're choosing kindness this winter.


Edlington Clean-Up Day

A huge thank you to all who took part in the Edlington clean-up day!

City of Doncaster Council provided resdients of Edlington with free skips to help tidy up some areas and encourage residents to take pride in where they live.

  • Residents filled 6 skips, totalling at 180 tonnes of waste
  • Street Scene scrubbed out weeds, cleaned back alleys and clearned all the graffiti on the Royal Estate
  • Community Payback assisted with litter picks on all the streets
  • St Leger Caretakers cleared the gardens of SLH properties

Just shows what can happen when a community pulls together - thank you!

Community Conversation Points

Community Conversation Points are opportunities for people to meet with volunteers and Council staff to have conversations about what they want from life; their care & support, their housing, their environment and their community.

At Community Conversation Points, we will support you to make plans that promote your wellbeing and to help you remain independent for as long as possible.

Our Communities team have been at Edlington to support residents on their doorstep!

Survey: Domestic Abuse in Doncaster

We would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced Domestic Abuse in Doncaster.

This is to ensure every victim/survivor and their voice is central to everything we do. This survey feedback will help us reflect on the services available across Doncaster and help us with future planning.

Domestic Abuse Support Groups

The Doncaster Domestic Abuse Hub is here for ALL victims. If you are in an unhealthy relationship, there is support available online but also at a face-to-face support group.

If you would like to come to our women-only survivor safe space in Edlington, please call 07890985671 for more information about the group and when and where it is held, or email: survivors@doncaster.gov.uk

All groups provide free hot and cold refreshments in a safe space and are run by friendly survivors to chat to about your experiences -  together we can thrive after abuse

Tickhill - Pop up Community Cafe

Head to Northgate Community Hub, Tickhill on Wednesday 29 November, 1pm - 2pm for our community cafe. Expect support from:

Community Investment Fund

Have you got a project that seeks to support your local community?

The Community Investment Fund, funded by the Better Care Fund, can support your local project. Grants of up to £2000 are available for grassroots and smaller groupsThe grants are managed by voluntary organisations within your community, and the funds can be used for lots of different projects, including those that focus on your communities priorities, as highlighted in our new Locality Plans.

Doncaster Cancer Support Fundraiser!

Doncaster Cancer Support Group are holding their annual fundraiser event the Sunday 3 December at Rossington Welfare!

All proceeds from the event go towards helping support those local families and individuals diagnosed with cancer. So come along  see Santa and win some great prizes!

Expect:

  • A visit from Santa with free gift for children
  • Raffle, tombola & stalls
  • Craft items
  • Fun & games

Bawtry Table Tennis Club

  • Walk & Talk: Wellbeing walk for all abilities, 1pm

Rossington Chooses Kindness

On Thursday 2 November, members of our Rossington Health & Wellbeing meeting took the pledge to Choose Kindness.

Choose Kindness is a movement in Doncaster being one act of kindness can spur another and create a chain reaction. Here in Rossington we have chosen to take the pledge to choose kindness, help others and create that chain reaction.

Sexual Health Pop-Up Clinic

Our friendly Sexual Health team are running regular clinics at the Denaby & Conisbrough Family Hub at 2pm - 4pm on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 28 November
  • Tuesday 12 December

The team provide advice, information, testing and treatment for sexual health concerns as well as contraception and psychosexual services.
