- Latest Road Closures and Re-openings
- Sandbags – what to do
- Flooding and mental health
Whilst the weather is still wet and with a level of uncertainty about the rain that Storm Ciarán could bring, we are continuing with our partners to be out on the ground monitoring river levels including those in priority areas that have seen flooding. We are continuing to support local residents and carry out recovery work.
The Environment Agency has issued one new flood alert for the Lower River Don catchment which means there is possible risk of flooding, however we are carefully monitoring river levels and ready to respond if need be.
River levels are relatively high and a number of roads remain closed due to floodwaters from Storm Babet. We are out every day inspecting road conditions and if any roads can be reopened or if any repair works are needed. This does take time and we are working around Doncaster as quickly as possible.
We have continued to use pumps in key areas and will continue to do so whilst the Environment Agency continues to inspect flood defences and patrol embankments, check debris screens and remove obstructions.
We will be closely monitoring the weather and updates will be provided on MyDoncaster social media and website on any affects in Doncaster.
Reminder - please don't drive through floodwater!
A reminder to please do not drive through floodwaters and to be aware of hazards such as abandoned cars.
We know some cars had to be abandoned. If you had to leave your vehicle please do get in touch with us to arrange recovery as soon as you can. This will help us reopen up our roads safely and as soon as possible.

Cleaning up safely, taking care of your mental health, and should you eat that?
If your home or garden was affected by the recent flooding, there is some useful advice on the GOV.UK website for how to clean up safely, keep your children and pets safe, and work out if your food is safe to eat (you may have had to turn off your electricity, or flood waters may have got into your garden and onto crops you’re growing, which may make food unsafe to eat).
Having your life disrupted by flooding, even if water didn’t enter your home, can be very distressing, and it is normal to notice changes in your thoughts and moods. If you need support with the emotional impacts of flooding, there is information on a range of available options here:
