Latest Update: Storm Babet
In Tuesday's update:
- Reminder: Please don't drive through flood waters
- Our teams remain on the ground
-
Latest road closures and re-openings
- Flooding & mental health
The rain has still been falling steadily throughout today and our teams and that of our partners have been on the ground supporting communities and the ongoing highways monitoring and pumping in several sites including Bawtry, Thorne and Fishlake.
There also remain a number of roads across Doncaster which are closed due to flood waters too, the details of which can be found further down in this email, along with several that have reopened. Please do check before you travel and be aware that there could be road diversions in place and hazards such as abandoned cars.
There is no further rain expected tomorrow and we will monitor the situation and will provide the necessary updates.
Please don't drive through floodwater!
There are still some areas affected by floodwater, please DO NOT attempt to drive or walk through it, it’s often deeper than you think. Please do not ignore road closure signs or barriers as they are there for your safety.
We have also seen some signs and barriers being removed which could endanger yourself and others, please do not remove them. We are seeing more abandoned cars as water levels subside so do be careful when driving.
Our teams & partners continue to work on the ground
Along with our partners, our teams are continuing their on-the-ground support and have been working round the clock to monitor the situation and provide assistance and reassurance to residents across Doncaster.
Pumps have remained onsite overnight and today in Fishlake and Bawtry to help lower water levels. We are also pumping some floodwater in Thorne.
A huge thank you to those who have supported and continue to support us and our emergency service colleagues at this time.
