Welcome

This month, we are focusing on all the grants, financial support and funding that is available to support you over the winter months. 

There is lots of help and support available- from insulation, support with your boiler, and access to household appliances.

Cost of living support


Boiler on Prescription Grant

As a homeowner, if your boiler does not work properly or is broken and you experience ill health you might be able to get central heating installed. The following are a list of some of the health conditions that apply:

  • Chronic Heart Condition,
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Complex Conditions
  • Those who don't have the finances to replace/ repair a faulty central heating system or install it for the first time

Each case must be assessed by the Council's Sustainability Unit. For more information on the application process, please visit the Affordable Warmth Privacy Notice

Boiler

Energy Company Obligation Scheme

Under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme energy efficiency measures including but not limited to insulation and heating can be partially funded, but first requires a free survey to understand what is required and to confirm eligibility.

This grant is available to those receiving one of the following benefit:

  • Child Benefit* 
  • Pension Guarantee Credit
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Support
  • Tax Credits (Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits)
  • Universal Credit
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit 
  • Housing Benefit 

*Child Benefit qualification is subject to gross annual household earnings

Please visit the Trustmark website to find approved contractors who support the ECO scheme in your area.  Ask if they are registered with the ECO scheme and what they can offer.

Appliance Bank

Need a new household appliance but struggling to afford one?

An affordable and convenient way to access a wide selection of the latest household appliances is through a referral to Community First, they provide any items available at discounted prices. You have the option to make full payment or choose an inexpensive loan plan.

Support with your water bills

Yorkshire water have a number of support schemes that may be useful to you if you are having trouble with your water bills, as well as lots of information on saving and conserving water. You can find information on all of their schemes through their help paying your bill webpage.

Great British Insulation Scheme

You may be able to get free or cheaper insulation to reduce your home’s energy bills.

You might get support if your home:

You can be a homeowner, landlord or tenant (either renting privately or from a housing association). If you’re a tenant, speak to your landlord before you apply. You’ll need their permission before any insulation can be installed.

You may be able to get support to install:

  • cavity wall insulation
  • solid wall insulation (internal or external)
  • loft insulation
  • flat or pitched roof insulation
  • underfloor insulation
  • solid floor insulation
  • park home insulation
  • room-in-roof insulation

Connected for Warmth

The Connected for Warmth programme installs heating and insulation measures into homes across Britain. Supporting to reduce energy bills, reduce carbon emissions and make homes comfortable.

Connected for Warmth work with local authorities, companies and charities to identify and support homes that can benefit from the grant funding that we have available.

We are excited to share that we have expanded our offering of payment top-up vouchers to support clients facing challenges with energy and the rising cost of living! If you require guidance or wish to talk about a voucher, please reach out to us through the Citizens Advice Doncaster website or at any of our community sites throughout the city.


Household Support Fund

Household Support Fund 

The Household Support Fund is available in Doncaster to support with food for families during school holidays and can provide working age households with assistance towards their energy bills.
