Ongoing Roadworks


Trafford Way (20th February – 26th February)

Trafford Way tunnel will undergo overnight closures (from 8pm to 6am) for six evenings, beginning on 20th February.

Access northbound, in the direction of St George’s roundabout, will be restricted from Monday 20th February – Thursday 23rd February. There will be no vehicular access to North Bridge, please use St George’s Bridge.

Access southbound, towards Cleveland Street roundabout, will be restricted from Thursday 23rd February – Sunday 26th February. During this time, there will be no right turn from Church View.

Please use the signed diversions in place.

Note that access to Frenchgate interchange, Railway station and West Street remains unaffected.

South Parade Road Closure – 25th & 26th February

As part of the construction of a the new Active Travel corridor along South Parade and Bennetthorpe, resurfacing works will take place along phase 1 of the scheme on the above dates.

In order to carry out these works in safety a full road closure will be in place; from the junction with Thorne Road to the roundabout at A18 Leger Way from 8am on Saturday 25th February to 6pm on Sunday 26th February, or until the works are complete. A signed diversion route will be in place.

The map below shows the extent of the closure. The areas shown in green will be accessible to residents and businesses from one end of the closure or the other. The section shown in red is the section to be resurfaced and will be inaccessible during the closure.

If you live in the area marked red, we ask that all vehicles are removed by 8am on the mornings of the 25th and 26th February and not returned until after 6pm. If you need to use your vehicle between these times we ask that you park it outside of the area marked red.

There will be a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in place for the duration of the works which means that any contravention of the conditions of the Order could result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued and the subsequent removal of a vehicle.

Shaftholme Lane (21st February – 7th April)

Works to remove this bridge, which is situated approximately 2.5km north of Bentley, will start on 21st February and the road closure and diversion will be in place until 7th April 2023.

The bridge carrying Shaftholme Lane over the track bed of the former Gowdell to Braithwell railway will be infilled. Therefore, Shaftholme Lane will be closed from the junction with Hall Villa Lane to Hazelhouse Farm. Please follow the signed diversion.

Coronation street parties – Saturday 6th May

If you are planning to host a street party on / around the time of King Charles III coronation, then please notify the council via this link.

The deadline for applications is Friday 7th April.

Please note:

  • The Council should be notified via the link on the webpage
  • Street parties should take place ideally on cul-de-sacs (please be respectful of neighbours)
  • There is no fee from the Council to close the road but organisers will need to sort and pay for their own traffic management
  • Three metres of width should be left to allow emergency service vehicle access
