 Weather Warning - Cold Weather
As you will be aware, the temperature has significantly dropped this week and we are entering a period of particularly cold weather. We would like to assure you that all cold weather preparations at Doncaster Council are fully in place.
We are currently receiving weather forecasts indicating road surface temperatures down to around minus 5 degrees Celsius, including a risk of some snowfall.
Our Winter Services team are monitoring the situation throughout, with our dedicated roads forecaster and local weather sensors, we will take appropriate action as the situation unfolds.
You can read the digital version of our Winter Booklet 'Supporting You This Winter' by clicking the link above (a physical version will soon be delivered to households across Doncaster).
You can also sign-up for flood alerts here.
Strep A caution
As you may have seen in the news recently, higher levels than usual of Scarlet Fever / Group A streptococcus, ‘Strep A’, are being seen across the country.
Whilst serious cases are rare, it’s only natural that parents and carers have concerns.
With this in mind, we’re urging parents and carers across Doncaster to stay vigilant for symptoms of Scarlet Fever / Strep A in their children and contact your GP if you suspect your child has scarlet fever.
Symptoms include:
- A sore throat
- Headache
- Fever
- A fine, pinkish or red body rash with a sandpapery feel (on darker skin the rash can be more difficult to detect visually but will have a sandpapery feel)
