Love Parks Week

This week we've been celebrating Love Parks Week across Doncaster.

From our Green Flag Awarded parks, freshly grown naturalisation zones, newly installed play equipment and favourite picnic and cafe areas - we all have our go-to outdoor spaces.

But it's important to remember, that parks can be like music and food. We can all have our favourites, but they're all worth exploring, discovering and revisiting for familiar and new experiences.

World Breastfeeding Week!

Mums have the legal right to breastfeed anywhere but many may not feel confident doing so.

‘We Support Our Mums’ makes it easier for mums to recognise venues that welcome breastfeeding in Doncaster, just look out for the symbol or check our interactive map: https://apps.doncaster.gov.uk/supportourmums/

Venues across Doncaster are showing their support to this scheme, assuring Mums that staff are supportive of breastfeeding.

Dementia Services Survey

Healthwatch are working with Doncaster Council and the NHS on a project to listen to people about their own and their loved ones experiences of using Dementia Services in the borough.

If you have Dementia or someone you know has or had dementia and used these services, we would love to hear your views.

Find out more

If you would prefer to fill out a paper copy of the survey, contact Healthwatch and they can arrange one to be sent to you.

Coronavirus Reminder

Both nationally and locally COVID rates are going up, with the current rate in Doncaster being almost 128 infections per 100,000 people.

It is good that the rate is starting to fall but it is clear that as we spend more time attending events and activities over the summer we need to remember that COVID is still around.

With this in mind we should continue protect ourselves and others by staying at home if we have symptoms or test positive and not visiting healthcare facilities or vulnerable friends and family if we have COVID or a possibility of having COVID.

There are simple things we can do in our daily life that will help reduce the spread of coronavirus and other respiratory infections, as well as protecting those at high risk. These include:

  • Getting vaccinated
  • Letting fresh air in if meeting others indoors.
  • Practising good hygiene.
  • Wearing a face covering or a face mask in crowded, enclosed spaces.

Please remember that if you are visiting a hospital, you are required to wear an appropriate face covering.

If you're planning to travel abroad this summer, some countries may still have COVID restrictions. You can check travel requirements on the government website.

Practicing hands, face and space as well as reducing your contacts on the lead up to any travel can help to avoid being unwell on holiday or being unable to go.
