 We need your vote!
Doncaster has made it to the six-strong shortlist to become the headquarters of Great British Railways. Following strong applications from 42 local authorities across Britain, the city of Doncaster is now one of just a handful remaining before a public vote.
YOU can now vote on which location you think should be Great British Railway's new HQ!
The results of the public vote will be used to measure the level of public support for each location, and will be considered as part of final decision making.

Coronavirus Reminder
Both nationally and locally COVID rates are going up, with the current rate in Doncaster being almost 200 infections per 100,000 people.
Whilst this is still low in comparison to rates seen throughout the pandemic, it is still the highest we have experienced for a few months and is a reminder that COVID is still around.
With this in mind we should continue protect ourselves and others by staying at home if we have symptoms or test positive and not visiting healthcare facilities or vulnerable friends and family if we have COVID or a possibility of having COVID.
There are simple things we can do in our daily life that will help reduce the spread of coronavirus and other respiratory infections, as well as protecting those at high risk. These include:
- Getting vaccinated
- Letting fresh air in if meeting others indoors
- Practising good hygiene
- Wearing a face covering or a face mask in crowded, enclosed spaces.
Please remember that if you are visiting a hospital, you are required to wear an appropriate face covering.
If you're planning to travel abroad this summer, some countries may still have COVID restrictions. You can check travel requirements on the government website. Practicing hands, face and space as well as reducing your contacts on the lead up to any travel can help to avoid being unwell on holiday or being unable to go.

Keeping well in the heat
Get out your summer clothes and put on you sunglasses, it looks like we have some more hot weather on the horizon in Doncaster! Here are some things we can all do to keep well and enjoy the warm weather:
-
Keep hydrated: be sure to have plenty of water and cold drinks
-
Seek the shade where possible: particularly between 11am-3pm
-
Use lots of sunscreen: over factor 30 is best!
-
Take some time to relax: try not to do any physical activities that may be too demanding
Let’s also do our best to look out for others in the heat. Make sure babies, children or elderly people are not left alone in stationary cars. Be sure to keep an eye on ill or young people and check in daily with elderly or unwell neighbours, family or friends during hot weather.
Be alert and seek advice if someone is unwell or further help is needed.
