Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Hello there

It's Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May) and this special edition of the Your Life Doncaster newsletter focuses on help and advice to support mental health and wellbeing.

With Covid, the last two years have been tough for many people, so it is important that everyone in Doncaster knows how they can access support for themselves, their families or their friends.

If you are struggling with your mental health, don't hesitate to ask for help, getting the support as early as possible is vital.

Deputy Director of Public Health, Rachael Leslie, has made a short video to highlight the latest information on a wide range of services and resources on offer as well as explaining some of the things we can do to improve our wellbeing.

Peer Support Groups

People with long term conditions have told us they can feel isolated.

Be Well Doncaster run a network of community based peer groups to support people to manage their long-term health conditions including pre-diabetes, diabetes, fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

A different guest speaker joins the groups each month. The groups can also help you to make connections with local people in your community who are in a similar situation.

To find out what Peer Groups are available in your area, please contact: BeWellDoncaster@doncaster.gov.uk

Young Advisors in Doncaster have worked with services and partners to create a new Children and Young Peoples plan. Priorities include the introduction of Kooth – a brilliant online resource for young people aged 11 years+.

Kooth is a safe and confidential way for young people to access emotional wellbeing support, anonymously.

The free app holds several features for young people to gain advice, support and share their experiences if they’re not feeling their best.
