Funding to Support Energy Consumers in Vulnerable Situations
The Energy Redress Fund has reopened for 2022, with the following priorities:
- Support energy consumers in vulnerable situations.
- Deliver benefits to the types of consumers that were negatively impacted by the specific issues that triggered the redress payment.
There is a total of £23 million to fund new projects, with grants ranging from £20,000 to £2 million.
Registered charities that are registered with the Energy Redress Scheme and have passed the due diligence process may apply for the Small Projects Fund, Main Projects Fund or Innovation Fund.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 6th June, 2022.
£27 million of Funding to Support a Reduction in Carbon
The Ofgem Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme has now opened the first funding round in phase two of the Scheme.
Previously only open to registered charities, this fund will now also accept applications from Community Interest Companies, Community Benefit Societies and Cooperative Societies provided they are registered with the Energy Redress Scheme and have passed the due diligence process.
Grants can support both capital and revenue costs for projects lasting up to two years.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 6th June, 2022.
Rosa Announces Launch of Stand with Us
Rosa has now opened its Stand With Us Fund, which will see grants of up to £25,000 given to organisations against gender-based violence in the UK.
The fund is exclusively open to women’s and/or girls’ organisations.
The funding can be used for organisational development work that will allow organisations to survive, thrive and grow. It is intended to support extra capacity, rather than existing costs. This could include investing in staff training, development and capacity building activities.
The deadline to apply is 4pm on 9th June, 2022.
Community Radio Fund
The Community Radio Fund, provided by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), can be used to support the core costs of running Ofcom-licensed community radio stations.
The total amount available in 2022-23 is nearly £400,000 and there is no minimum or maximum amount that can be applied for.
There are normally two funding rounds in each financial year.
The deadline for applications to the first round is 5pm on 10th June, 2022.
Community Ownership Fund
The UK Government has announced that its £150 million Community Ownership Fund will reopen for applications on 10th June, 2022 and will be open to more community groups following expansion of its levelling up funding.
A two-stage application process is being introduced.

Stage one is to complete a brief Expression of Interest form. Applicants will be able to check if their project is likely to be eligible and receive quick feedback on their proposals before submitting a full application. The EOI form can be submitted at any time as there are no deadlines, enabling applicants to start at a time that is suitable to them.

Stage two will see applicants with eligible projects invited to submit a full application.
Expressions of Interest will be accepted from 10th June, 2022.
Business and Financial Support for Black and Minoritised Communities
The Enterprise Development Programme is a five-year, £40 million initiative which charities, voluntary sector organisations, and social enterprises led by and working with Black and Minoritised communities to grow financial resilience and impact by providing a mix of grant and learning support to help get enterprise ideas off the ground.
Applicants who are accepted onto the programme will work collaboratively with Ubele Initiative, a programme partner, to determine what they need to progress their ideas and build the resilience of their organisation.
There is a two-stage application process. There are three opportunities to submit a stage one application in 2022.
The first deadline for Stage 1 applications is 13th June, 2022 (12 noon).
New Round of Museum Estate and Development Fund Opens
Arts Council England (ACE), supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), is providing this open-access capital fund targeted at non-national Accredited museums and local authorities.
The fund aims to help museums improve their core infrastructure by tackling their maintenance backlogs, as well as reduce the immediate risks to buildings, visitors, staff and collections due to improved core infrastructure.
Expressions of interest should be submitted by 12pm on 17th June, 2022.
Applications Invited for Youth Investment Fund (YIF) Phase 2 Pilot
Through its YIF Phase 2, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) intends to provide up to 300 new and redeveloped youth facilities in eligible levelling up areas across England.
By making pilot funding available ahead of the fund opening, DCMS aims to:
- Build four or more youth facilities over 2022/23.
- Gain feedback and learning from the build process that can inform the design, procurement and construction of future YIF-funded facilities.
Applicants must be non-profit organisations with a track record of delivering youth work to a high standard, and own, or have the ability to develop, an appropriate site in an eligible area.
The deadline to apply is 23.59 on 19th June, 2022.
Launch of We Move Fund : Youth Social Act
Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations can now apply to BBC Children in Need’s newest fund to create and invest in opportunities for Black children and young people.
Projects should aim to:
- Reach Black children and young people with opportunities to have their voices heard and empower them to create change on issues that matter to them.
- Achieve positive outcomes for Black children and young people through Youth Social Action.
- Learn about what Youth Social Action means to Black Children and young people, and share this learning with the wider sector.
Applicants must register their interest in the fund before they may apply. Then, they will have until 20th June, 2022 to complete the full application.
Money Saving Expert (MSE) to Bring Forward its September 2022 Round
In response to the current cost-of-living crisis, MSE will bring forward its next planned funding round, which was originally due to open in September this year.
The theme for the round is Building and Developing Resilience, and projects should focus on providing urgent money guidance and emergency debt help to those of in need of support through the cost-of-living crisis in the UK.
Small to medium-sized non-profit organisations, including UK registered charities, community interest companies, social enterprises and credit unions can apply.
Applications will open on 20th June, 2022 and close on 22nd July, 2022 (or when 40 applications have been accepted)
Launch of £1m Fund to Boost Reusable Packaging
Created by Hubbub, in partnership with Starbucks, the Bring It Back Fund aims to support innovative projects to increase the adoption, and remove barriers for, reusable packaging in the food and drink sector.
Grants of between £150,000 and £300,000 are available.
Successful applicants could promote behaviour change, undertake new research, expand an existing approach or attempt something completely new, including technical fixes.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 24th June, 2022.
ShooSmiths Foundation Invites Charities to Apply for 2022 Funding
Launched in June 2021, the Shoosmiths Foundation is a grant making body working to help address societal issues, to empower sustainable change and to improve the lives of the people and the environment in the UK.
Grants of between £25,000 and £50,000 are available.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 24th June 2022..
£5m to Improve Libraries
The Libraries Improvement Fund will enable library services to invest in a range of projects to upgrade buildings and technology so they are better placed to respond to the changing ways people are using them.
Funding has been provided by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and will be administered by Arts Council England.
A total of £5 million is available for 2022/23. Capital expenditure between £50,000 to £499,999 will be awarded.
The deadline for submitting Expression of Interest forms is 27th June, 2022 (12pm midday).
Forestry Commission Launches £8.8m Tree Production Capital Grant
The Tree Production Capital Grant provides funding to help tree nurseries and suppliers invest in projects which improve, expand, automate or mechanise their operations.
The scheme is looking to support projects with outputs that will better equip nurseries to supply the trees required for new woodlands and urban planting projects.
Up to £8.8 million of funding is available, subject to sufficient high-quality bids being received. Successful projects will be awarded up to £175,000 in grant funding to cover up to 50% of costs.
The deadline for applications is 30th June, 2022 (23:55 BST).
Hilden Charitable Fund Reopens
Hilden Charitable Fund, a grant-making organisation which aims to address disadvantage by supporting causes less likely to raise funds from public sources, is once again accepting applications after undertaking a funding strategy review earlier this year.
There are two funding programmes available:
- Asylum Seekers.
- Penal Affairs.
The next deadline to apply is 3rd July, 2022.
Levelling Up Fund Round 2
The £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund will invest in local infrastructure that has a visible impact on people and their communities. This includes a range of high value local investment priorities, including local transport schemes, urban regeneration projects and cultural assets.
The Fund is jointly managed by HM Treasury (HMT), the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and the Department for Transport (DfT).
The second round of the Fund will focus on the same three themes as the first round: smaller transport projects that make a genuine difference to local areas; town centre and high street regeneration; and support for maintaining and expanding the UK’s world-leading portfolio of cultural and heritage assets, in particular:
- Transport investments.
- Regeneration and town centre investment.

Cultural investment. Local authorities may submit joint bids.
Applications to the second round of funding will be accepted on the online portal from 31st May, 2022 and will close on 6th July, 2022 (12 noon).
Creative Enterprise New Ideas Fund Reopens for Screen Businesses
The New Ideas Fund is a bespoke Research and Innovation fund offering small grants for creative entrepreneurs and companies working in moving image industries with storytelling at the heart of their work.
Grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 are available to support the development of new and innovative ideas, enabling entrepreneurs to build upon their creative and commercial ideas, creating opportunity for business growth.
Applications are currently being accepted until 23rd July, 2022 (09:00 BST).
LNER Customer and Communities Investment Fund (CCIF)
LNER Customer and Communities Investment Fund (CCIF) will open on 27th June. 2022 and will stay open for five weeks.
The fund aims to support charities and communities located within 10 – 15 miles of the LNER route.
The issues CCIF is focused on are:
- Mental health;
- Education and employability skills;
- Diversity and inclusion; and
- Environmental Sustainability.
LNER will be holding a virtual CCIF Guidance Session on 20th June, which will provide an overview of the fund and an opportunity to ask questions. If you would like to attend this session, please email CCIF@lner.co.uk with your name and email address.

Launch of Government’s VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2022-25
The Department of Health and Social Care has reopened its VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund with the new theme of ‘women’s reproductive wellbeing in the workplace’.
Grants of £200,000 to £600,000 for three-year projects (to a maximum of £200,00 per year) are available.
Joint applications are accepted from organisations across sectors as long as the lead applicant is a VCSE organisation taking the majority of the responsibility for the project.
The deadline to apply is 9am on 5th August, 2022.
Grants for School Music Equipment
The Universal Music UK Sound Foundation provides grants to help towards the purchase of musical instruments and/or equipment for schools who require the equipment to fund music education.
The latest funding round is now open to applications.
Grants of no more than £1500 are available.
Applications should be submited by the deadline of 10th August, 2022.
Funding to Help Disadvantaged Groups to Improve their Communication Skills
The Thomas Wall Trust is accepting applications from UK charities to support a project or running costs for a charity that equips disadvantaged people (aged 18 and over) with the communication skills ready for employment.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available, and the Trust can support annual repeat funding for up to three years.
There is particular interest in hearing from groups supporting people experiencing multiple deprivation or major hurdles to employment including women, people with disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers.
The deadline to apply is 19th September, 2022.
Phase 4 of Industrial Energy Efficiency Acclerator Now Open
The Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) funds industrial scale demonstrations of novel technologies with the potential to reduce energy consumption, maximise resource efficiency and cut carbon emissions in industry.
Phase 4 of the programme is expected to provide at least £3.5 million in grant funding.
Grants will be competitively awarded to projects that can install and test innovative energy efficiency technologies on an industrial site, to prove that they work at scale in a real industrial setting.
The programme is open to projects from all UK industry sectors that can demonstrate either a novel technology (targeting Technology Readiness Level 5-8), or the use of an established technology in a novel way.
Phase 4 of the IEEA is open to applications until 19th September, 2022 (15:00 BST).
Heat Networks Fund Opens for 2022
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is providing grants through the Heat Networks Funding Stream to support local authorities (LAs) to identify, evaluate and develop new heating and cooling networks and the expansion of existing heating and cooling networks.
Round 12 of the fund has widened its scope to also allow for the following applicants:
- Registered Social Landlords
- Property Developers
- Universities
- NHS Trusts
- Other Government Departments.
Round 12 will accept applications until 12pm on 30th December, 2022.
Grants for Senior Mental Health Lead Training in Schools and Colleges
The Department for Education (DfE) is offering a grants for eligible state-funded schools and colleges to train a senior mental health lead to develop and implement a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Grants of £1,200 will be provided to cover (or contribute to) the cost of attending a quality assured course and may also be used to hire supply staff whilst leads are engaged in learning.
There are two forms applicants must complete:
- Form 1 - the initial application form to check eligibility and reserve a grant
- Form 2 - the second stage of the application process, where applicants upload evidence of having booked a DfE quality assured training course so they can pay the grant.
There is no specified deadline for applications.
HSBC Launches £819m Female Entrepreneur Fund
HSBC Bank has launched the Female Entrepreneur Fund which aims to build a partnership with female entrepreneurs that could help take their businesses to the next level and realise their potential.
The Fund sits alongside the HSBC Roar initiative, which enables female entrepreneurs to access a range of masterclasses and networking opportunities.
The Fund will provide over £819 million in lending to female-owned businesses over the next 12 months. Loans will be arranged with the bank according to individual needs and circumstances.
Small and medium-sized businesses led by women may apply. The Fund will be open to both new and existing customers.
Applications Open for Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Government is providing grants to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps, through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). These grants are intended to help domestic and small non- domestic property owners overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies.
Applicants may be awarded:
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump.
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler.
- £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump.
The scheme is now open for grant applications and payments. It will run from 2022 to 2025.
