Council Tax Update
You may have noticed it in your account already, if not please check the bank account you use to pay your Council Tax Direct Debit.
For those eligible households that have not received an automatic payment, we’re working hard to put in place the application process and hope to make our application form available soon.
We appreciate that many households are eager to access this support, but we ask residents to please remain patient whilst we put in place all processes required to administer the scheme.
We will provide further updates on this when we have them.
Jubilee Celebrations
Yesterday, Her Majesty The Queen celebrated her 96th Birthday.
We will of course soon be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style in Doncaster, with an exciting programme of events and activities for all the family! This includes Doncaster's Food and Drink Festival, featuring some very special guests including Ainsley Harriott.
School Places
We’re pleased to share that 99% of Doncaster children (whose applications were made on time) have today been offered a place at one of their preferred reception classes!
96% of children have been offered their first preferred place.
All children who did not receive an offer for one of their preferred schools have been offered a place at an alternative local school - the majority being offered at their catchment area school.
Parents will be able to log into the online admission system today, using the email which they used to register, to view their place offer.

If you are unsure if your relationship is a healthy one take a look at What is Domestic Abuse? - Doncaster Council and read through the questions to help you recognise that you could be living in an abusive relationship.

Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! Doncaster Council has been doing a lot over the past year to do our part in supporting our environment:
- Over 53,000 trees planted throughout planting season.
- Thermal improvement programmes have provided insulation on over 500 homes in 2021-22.
- The Green Homes Grant funding assisted in upgrading 140 private homes and a further 140 social housing properties across Doncaster.
- Doncaster is a key contributor to renewable energy generation, and is in fact placed 9th amongst all UK Local Authorities for the number of solar installations, with 7,311 homes/buildings utilising them.
- We have the highest level of installed wind energy generation in South Yorkshire, with 61MW, which is greater than the combined wind energy generation across the rest of South Yorkshire.
- Helped over 400 householders with Energy Advice and grants & schemes.
- Working with 74 schools assisting them with energy consumption, environment and sustainability educational sessions to fit around the curriculum, and funding opportunities for projects such as tree planting and energy auditing.
There are lots of ways that we can all aim to reduce emissions by 2030. Check out our Doncaster Things: Earth Day guide to find out more...
