Flood Warnings
As of 5pm on Monday 21 February, flood warnings are currently in place for the following areas:
- Braithwaite
- Kirk Bramwith
- South Bramwith
- Thorpe in Balne
- Trumfleet
- Sprotbrough
- Conisbrough
Three flood alerts are also in place:
We have been working closely with the Environment Agency and our emergency services partners to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of all of our residents.
Our flood advice webpage is available containing the latest advice for anyone who has been affected or at risk of flooding from what to do if your property is at risk of flooding to updated road closures.
 There are three types of warning issued when flooding is forecast.
These warnings are: flood alerts, flood warnings and severe flood warnings.
Here’s what they mean:
Flood alert - Prepare
- prepare a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents
- check flood warnings
Flood warning - Act
- turn off gas, water and electricity
- move things upstairs or to safety
- move family, pets and car to safety
Severe flood warning - Survive
- call 999 if in immediate danger
- follow advice from emergency services
- keep yourself and your family safe
Road Closures
As of 5pm on Monday 21 February, The following bridges are closed:
- Greys Bridge – Mexborough
- Ferry Lane (Jubilee Bridge) - Thorne
The following roads are closed:
- Fordstead Lane – Barnby Dun
- Thorpe Bank - Barnby Dun
- Low Lane – Kirk Bramwith
- Pastures Road – Mexborough
- Denaby Lane – Old Denaby
- Nursery Lane – Sprotbrough
- Water Lane (Bridge Hill) – Stainforth
- Thorpe Bank - Barnby Dun
- A614 Thorne Road (Thorne to Selby Route)
Further closures remain a possibility. Please check before travelling.
Please be aware of any surface water, take extra care on the roads and don't drive through flood water. We've had some reports of motorists removing flood road closure signs or trying to drive through flood waters and getting stuck.
