An Update from Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group Director Anthony Fitzgerald

Over 20,000 COVID-19 Vaccine jabs have been administered so far in Doncaster.

This week, Director of Strategy & Delivery at Doncaster CCG Anthony Fitzgerald gave us a video update on how the vaccination programme is going across the borough.

Covid-19 Vaccinations

Doncaster is on track to deliver COVID-19 jabs to the majority of those over 80, 75, 70 and frontline health and social care workers by mid-February, as the local vaccination programme continues to gather pace.

National booking letters for the Covid-19 vaccination have started to arrive in Doncaster this week for people in priority groups 1-4. Please be assured that when the NHS contacts you or a loved one to get vaccinated, you may be offered a few places to go including local vaccination sites or regional mass vaccination sites and pharmacies which are located in neighbouring towns and cities.

This is simply a way for you to potentially access a vaccination quicker. Please don't worry if you can't get to the first place should it not be suitable - you will be offered other ways to get a jab soon. For more information about the vaccine programme in Doncaster:

Front-line social care worker? We may need to hear from you!

  • working for a care company not directly commissioned by Doncaster Council/CCG?

We may need to hear from you!

We need to make sure we’ve got the details of all frontline social care workers on the priority vaccination list. If you work for a provider that is commissioned by Doncaster Council/CCG YOU DO NOT need to contact us, as your employer has already provided your details.

Community testing has arrived in Hexthorpe

Doncaster's first community Covid-19 testing site has now opened.

It's located in Hexthorpe and all local Hexthorpe residents who DO NOT have symptoms of the virus are invited to attend for regular testing.

The Springboard Centre, Hexthorpe Boxing Club, Shadyside is open 7am – 7pm every day.

You DO NOT need to book in advance – just walk up to the site (you’ll need a face covering when coming into the test centre).

This will be the first of a number of similar community testing sites across the borough over the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our social media and this newsletter for further updates.

Stay at home. Save lives

Around one in three people with Covid-19 don't have any symptoms, but can still pass it on.

That's why it's so important to stay at home and play your part to stop the spread of the virus - particularly now the new variant is spreading fast.

If you are notified that you need to self-isolate please do so immediately. Whilst we understand the temptation to go to the supermarket and get supplies for the upcoming days, this could in fact spread the virus further.

Remember, even if you've had your Covid-19 vaccine, it's important that you continue to follow national restrictions. We don't yet know if the vaccine prevents transmission - you could potentially still carry and transmit the virus to other vulnerable people, even if you are protected.

Please stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
