New Bus Service Timetables Published Ahead of August Changes
Dumfries and Galloway Council and SWestrans have published updated bus timetables ahead of new contract arrangements beginning 7 August. Following a procurement process, 45 long-term contracts have been awarded to local bus operators, with DGC Buses delivering several routes where no suitable operator was secured.
In addition, efforts continue to confirm as many of the region’s 12 commercially operated routes as possible, although neither SWestrans nor the council is responsible for procurement on these routes.
With timetable changes including adjustments to timings and operating companies, passengers are strongly encouraged to review the new timetables prior to travel from 7 August onwards.
Updated bus timetables and operator details are now available on the council’s website. Printed versions will be distributed to bus stops as soon as possible and can also be viewed at local libraries. For further assistance, contact the council’s contact service centre at 030 33 33 3000.
Get Into Summer with the Amazing Summer Roadshow
Roadshows are free pop-up community events for children, young people and families. With music, outdoor games, sports coaching, creative crafts, virtual reality, youth work and more – there’s something for everyone to get involved in.
The events are taking place in Annandale and Eskdale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire during July and August. Follow Youth Work Dumfries and Galloway for updates.
Lifelong Learning Art Exhibition in Stranraer
There’s still a chance to catch a vibrant art exhibition in Stranraer, showcasing creativity and expression from adult learners across the Rhins.
Organised by the council’s Lifelong Learning Service, the exhibition brings together a wide range of painting, drawing, collage and mixed media pieces developed through weekly creative sessions. The work reflects personal journeys of confidence, wellbeing and connection through art.
The exhibition is free to attend at Stranraer College and will remain open from 10am to 2pm on Monday 29 July – all welcome.
