February 2026
Welcome to our special No Smoking Day edition of the Smokefree Devon Alliance newsletter!
No Smoking Day 2026 is just around the corner, providing a great opportunity for partners across Devon to come together and amplify a shared message: quitting smoking is one of the most powerful steps someone can take for their health.
This year’s theme highlights the impact of small, achievable changes — and with your support, we can help more residents access the right tools, encouragement, and local stop smoking services.
By promoting No Smoking Day through your networks, workplaces, and community channels, you’ll be helping us reach people at the moment they’re ready to make a positive change.
If you want to help to support No Smoking Day and are looking for materials to share on social media, see below:
We’re pleased to share details about the national No Smoking Day campaign.
No Smoking Day
We’ve created a comprehensive suite of resources to help you promote No Smoking Day (Wednesday 11 March 2026), using the theme 'a smoke-free life starts with a smoke-free day'. The resources are also split into three phases; a momentum-building phase before the day, No Smoking Day itself, and the days following it. We’ve created both editable and non-editable versions of the following asset types:
- Static and animated social assets
- Posters
- Static and animated digital screens

Public sector organisations, and those involved in providing stop smoking services, can request editable Canva files of all resources, except the animations. These allow you to add local logos and signpost to local services. Please email your request to partnerships@dhsc.gov.uk to receive links to these editable resources.

Smokefree Action Coalition (SFAC) activity on NSD
The SFAC is asking partners/stakeholders to help create a national “No Regrets” moment on No Smoking Day itself, by producing and sharing short, authentic messages from real people. Partners are encouraged to capture short videos (15–25 seconds, filmed on a smartphone) featuring people who have quit smoking, stop smoking advisors/clinicians, smoking survivors and trusted community voices, to share a brief message about quitting smoking and promoting the local support available. ASH will also curate and upload selected clips to their YouTube channel, creating a lasting No Smoking Day/No Regrets collection.
Join partners from across Devon for a dedicated day of collaboration, insight and action as we work together toward a smokefree future for our communities.
This full‑day event (including lunch!) will bring together colleagues from health, local authorities, the voluntary sector and wider system partners to:
- Explore emerging national and local priorities shaping tobacco control, including an update on the Tobacco and Vapes Bill by ASH's very own Hazel Cheeseman.
- Share best practice and learn from work happening nationally and across the county, including a talk from Ailsa Rutter OBE, director of Fresh, the UK’s first dedicated regional tobacco control programme.
- Strengthen partnership working to accelerate progress toward a smokefree Devon, including a talk from behavioural science expert Benji Hadwell.
- Celebrate our successes in achieving smokefree goals across Devon
- Shape collective action for the year ahead through discussion and co‑design
Whether you’re directly involved in tobacco control or contribute to wider public health and community wellbeing, your voice is vital.
