New Inclusion Drop‑In sessions begin 21st January
Further to our communication last term, we are pleased to inform you that Locality Inclusion Drop-Ins will be beginning on 21st January.
Each locality will be holding 2 drop-in sessions each week; Wednesday 12.30-4pm and Thursday 9.30-1pm. These multi professional drop-in meetings will facilitate a solution focused discussion with settings around any questions or concerns related to Inclusion. Specifically, we encourage drop-ins to be booked to discuss concerns related to:
- Attendance/EBSA.
- Advice/support for SEND provision to support a graduated approach and/or implement OAIP or targeted support.
- Concerns around suspensions – may be at risk of PEX.
- Relational/restorative practice.
- Support around part time timetables.
- Transition support.
- Wider family support.
Each session will be 30 minutes and is bookable through the links below.
Please ensure you book using the correct booking link for the area your school is in.
Exeter and East schools - Exeter and East Inclusion Drop-ins
North and Mid schools - North and Mid Inclusion Drop-ins
South and West schools - South and West Inclusion Drop-ins
To ensure the sessions run as smoothly as possible, please note:
-
Book only when needed. Avoid reserving multiple or “just in case” slots.
- You may only discuss a child or young person by name if signed parental consent has been emailed in advance to your locality drop-in mailbox.
-
Be prepared. Ensure the right person attends - someone who knows the CYP and situation well. Have key, up-to-date information to hand.
-
Use the Targeted Support Framework before booking. There is an expectation that you have implemented a graduated approach to support prior to coming to a drop-in. The drop-in meeting can then help to strengthen your graduated approach through further advice, support and signposting.
-
Act early. Don’t wait for crisis point – we can’t solve a crisis in 30 minutes!
-
Consider alternatives. If professionals are already involved, a TAF or EHCP review may be more suitable next step than a drop-in.
-
Implement existing advice first. If you’ve received or are awaiting professional input, implement this first, through your graduated approach, before booking. Ensure the impact of this is evidenced and considered as part of your next steps.
-
Group concerns by theme rather than book for each individual. This allows strategies to benefit multiple CYP and can be a more efficient use of time.
-
A drop-in alone is not evidence of a graduated approach. It is a supportive conversation to guide your next steps. You are responsible for implementing and evidencing actions, as part of your assess, plan, do, review cycle.
-
Make your own notes – no notes will be provided from the locality team following the drop-in. You are required to take your own notes. Any key links will be put into the teams chat for you to access. The meeting chair will ensure there are clear actions for you to take away from the meeting.
-
Cancel if needed. Use your booking link to release the slot if you can’t attend.
