A new town near Exeter will see a Saturday night bus service come into effect this weekend, helping people get home from the city until 4am. The new route from Exeter to Cranbrook has been added as new funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office sees most existing routes continue for the whole of 2026.
Efforts are continuing today to ensure the county’s road network is clear in the aftermath of Storm Goretti, but the work doesn’t end there as our gritting teams will be heading out tonight. Our highways teams were busy overnight last night, with Control Centre staff dealing with more than 200 calls during the peak period of the storm in Devon from 10pm to 2am.
The Leader of Devon County Council, Councillor Julian Brazil, told a meeting of fellow Members today, Friday 9 January, that he hoped to find consensus so Devon can speak with one voice. A series of essential road repairs and highway improvements are due to be carried out on the A3015 Rydon Lane in Exeter in the coming weeks. The work, which is scheduled to take place between Monday 19 January and Saturday 7 March, will be undertaken in phases on several areas of the route.
