Centre news for October

All topic boxes requested for this term have now been picked, packed and delivered. We hope they’re proving useful in supporting your learners this term.

We are now very busy working with our subscribing schools to complete this term’s book exchanges through wishlist selections, Reading Roundabouts or visits from our mobile library. By Christmas we will have processed over 22,000 exchange books!

Early years foundation stage conference 2025

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Early years foundation stage conference being held on 9 October at Sandy Park. Our two Library Advisors, Ali and Jade, will be there with a selection of suitable books so please come and say hello! Click here for more details.

The National Year of Reading 2026

To celebrate The National Year of Reading, SLS will be offering a range of exciting activities, curated booklists, and more throughout 2026.

Our library network meetings are free of charge!!. They are led by the SLS advisory team and are a source of up-to-date information, the sharing of ideas and good practice.

This October, we celebrate Black History Month by recognising the achievements, culture, and contributions of Black people in the UK and around the world.

We have created a booklist to help reflect on the importance of equality and diversity, allowing your pupils to learn, reflect, and grow together.

Pre-publications booklist for November

With a large and exciting list of new titles scheduled for publication in November, we've carefully curated a selection of standout books that are likely to generate strong interest and high demand within your library. This list includes a diverse mix of genres ensuring there's something to appeal to a wide range of readers.

These upcoming releases are well worth adding to your collection and available to purchase through us at a 25% off rrp or subscribing schools can request them as part of their exchange.
