Centre news for July

With the Summer holidays fast approaching, here is our final newsletter of the academic year.  This edition is packed with useful information, booklists, updates and our own Summer reads. We recently attended a very busy SEN conference at Sandy Park where our carefully selected SEN booklists were very popular, click here to download lists.  It's almost time to start your topic box orders for the Autumn term!  Please submit your requests by the end of July for delivery in early September. The Reading Agency along with public libraries are running their Summer reading challenge 'Story Garden' which some of your readers may wish to participate in.  Click here for more information.

Class Readers - NEW!!

In response to feedback from schools, we now offer a range of class readers for you to choose from. We can provide up to 15 copies of any of the listed titles, depending on availability.  Please click below for details of titles from Foundation all the way through to Year 6. We will be removing playsets, however these can be ordered as a topic in the usual way if required.

Carnegie Winners

Earlier this month Devon School Library Service hosted Carnegie writing and illustration events across Devon schools.

Summer Reading booklists

Keep your pupils reading over the summer holidays with our summer reads. With lists for;   -  younger primary   -  older primary and   -  teen pupils there should be something for everyone! Happy Summer reading from all of us at Devon SLS.

The Children's Bookshow in Exeter

The Children's Bookshow is being held on 11 November at the Northcott Theatre and showcases the best children's books with authors and illustrators live on stage. This year's performance will be with Science teacher and author Alom Shaha and the illustrator Sarthak Sinha.  A magical mix of art, science and story-telling.
