We’ve got various teams from the within the council attending the festival this year.
Devon charity calls for more carers to open their homes and hearts
Shared Lives South West is a charity that supports nearly 500 people with learning disabilities, autism, dementia or who have difficulties related to mental health or older age, across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
The charity helps to provide real 'family home' alternatives to supported living or residential care.
It relies on a network of Shared Lives Carers, who have room in their homes and a desire to help others live their best life.
It's similar to adult fostering, and the goal is to create a nurturing, family-style environment that supports independence and personal growth.
It's actively seeking more carers to join its growing community.
An urgent community push is underway in Torrington to rescue The Globe Hotel, which has stood derelict since 2018.
We've provided a grant to help a project team in the town to launch a community share offer, with the aim of buying the iconic Grade II listed building and restoring it to its former glory as a hotel, bar and restaurant, but with a focus on training and re-investing in the town.
Locals have until Tuesday 24 June to raise £230,000 through the share offer. If successful, this will unlock a transformational £526,000 government grant.

Five stars for the Grand Western Canal
The Grand Western Canal Country Park has gained a five-star ‘Pride in Parks’ award.
The prestigious award, from the Royal Horticultural Society’s Southwest in Bloom, showcases community involvement as well as recognising the standard of the park itself and praising the team of rangers and dedicated volunteers that maintain the 11-mile-long canal.
People who dial 999 and ask for the fire service in Devon and Somerset receive a good response, according to the Service’s latest inspection report.
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has released their latest report into the performance of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
The next heritage walk being held as part of the Restoring Stover Park project will take place from 6pm to 9pm on Wednesday 18 June.
The evening walk, which will be led by qualified guide ‘Dartmoor’s Daughter’ (Emma Cunis), will follow a section of the Granite Tramway from Haytor via old quarrying sites, which have been reclaimed by nature, and then navigate towards ruins of a Bronze Age settlement.
