Businesses across Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay are being reminded by Trading Standards to ensure that they are ready for when the ban on disposable vapes begins on Sunday 1 June.
And if traders are unsure of what it means for their business, they should look at the guidance published on the Government’s website.
The new regulations will be enforced by Trading Standards, which has published draft guidance describing how it will apply the civil sanctions contained in the regulations. Trading Standards is running a consultation inviting comments and suggestions from the public about the guidance.
Find out more on their website at Single Use Vapes Ban – Consultation on Sanctions and email your responses to tradingstandards@devon.gov.uk by Friday 20 June.
Backpack/wild camping - Supreme Court ruling
Last week, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the right established by the Dartmoor Commons Act 1985, and the phrase 'open-air recreation' should be defined to include activities including backpack camping.
It's a significant announcement following years of debate and protest on both sides of the argument about access rights on Dartmoor Commons.
Dartmoor National Park Authority's Chief Executive, Dr Kevin Bishop, said that he's delighted with the Supreme Court's ruling. "This is a landmark judgement not just for Dartmoor National Park but for people who have long campaigned for access rights," he said.
