Dear School Leader, Governor and SLT,
The Department for Education's (DfE) Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy requires that: “By 2025, all education settings will have nominated a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan”. This applies to all education settings, nursery, primary, secondary, FE and SEND.
Trusts and schools have a key role in helping to create a sustainable future for our planet. The DfE are clear that senior decision makers, SLT and governors should support and drive a school’s sustainable activity.
DSLS and Climate Ambassadors are pleased to offer this interactive workshop to support all schools, no matter what stage they are at in implementing their sustainability and climate change strategy. The focus will be on leadership/governance as well as behaviour change and climate action planning. We will use real life case studies and there will be the opportunity to hear and speak to schools and trusts that are already working towards embedding a strategy. If you have some exciting projects or initiatives that you would like to share at this event, please contact office@devonsls.co.uk. There will be exhibitors on hand with advice and resources.
The day will include topics and updates as follows:
- Why the climate change agenda is important.
- Climate Ambassador Programme scheme.
- UK Sustainability Schools Network (UKSSN).
- Input from schools giving case studies and eco-committee pupil voice.
- Focused workshops.
