 New Heads Induction - Follow-up event

We are running a follow-up event for those that may not have been able to attend the original New Heads Induction event which took place at The Future Skills on 25 September 2024, or have been appointed since.
Important content during this session is aimed at supporting new leaders in their roles as well as information on the DSLS aHead Service and we would encourage you to attend.
This event is taking place as a virtual event (via MS Teams) and will provide an opportunity for you to get to know some of the people and resources available to support you in your leadership role from Devon County Council, Devon Education Services and Devon Schools Leadership Services.

DSLS aHeadStart Virtual CPD Session
Effective Complaints Handling for Schools and Colleges

In response to the issues that school leaders are raising with their aHead Professional Partners, we are delighted to have secured Iain Grafton (MBE) to lead another CPD session on effective complaints handling this year.
Iain retired as Detective Superintendent in the Police Force after completing thirty years' service, including time with the Police Complaints Authority. He is now the director of a company providing leadership and governance training and support services to schools, colleges and local academies. Iain brings an extensive experience, developed over twenty years as a governor in educational institutions, at both primary and secondary levels and is a Trustee with large southwest Multi Academy Trust
Iain has led CPD sessions for Devon school leaders for a number of years, which have been incredibly well received. He has vast experience of handling complaints and continues to work with the Local Authority and many Devon schools to manage challenging situations.
In this session, Iain will share his knowledge and expertise to support colleagues with handling complaints when they arise, he will also give examples of situations he has been involved in as well as live issues he is supporting schools with.
Please note that although this session is aimed at newly appointed school leaders, all are welcome to attend.
