In these special event for GCSE and BTEC music students and teachers from Devon, Plymouth and Torbay secondary schools, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) perform pieces from the current GCSE syllabus, as well as a live composition based on your ideas. Presented by BSO Associate Musician Patrick Bailey, KS4 Set Works Live concerts trace the development of music from the baroque period to the present day, supporting the music education of all KS4 music students.

Musical Mondays – Live Music Now Concerts Direct to your Classroom
Devon Music Education Hub and other Hubs across England are working with Live Music Now to present a Musical Mondays series of online performances for SEND schools/settings. The series is particularly suited to primary age pupils, but open to young people of all ages with additional needs. Join Live Music Now artists live as their performances is streamed directly into the comfort of your school hall or classroom.
Our next event is on Monday 10 February featuring Edward Robinson (baritone) and Rachel Fright (piano). Edward and Rachel have been performing together for 6 years after meeting while studying at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. They love to perform a varied programme of music from musical theatre to folk songs, opera to pop!
Sophie Fox from Magic Acorns joins our Strategic Lead for Early Years Music, Charlotte Gibbs, for this online CPD session for anyone working with 0-5 years olds. This session will take place from 2-4pm on Friday 24 January delivered via MS Teams.
This online session will explore ways we can create sensitive conditions for connection and interaction with babies and very young children. We will consider ways we can facilitate creativity, enable positive relationships through attuned adult-interaction and celebrate expression through musical play. We will look at some videos together to reflect on what we might see and to relate it to our own practice with very young children.
Devon Music Education Hub are delighted to be working with R&K Systems and Music In Devon Initiative (MIDI) to present the Devon Secondary Schools Battle of the Bands 2025.
Bands and aspiring artists from secondary schools/settings across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay can apply to join us at one of our regional heats, where they will get feedback on their performance from music industry professionals – our regional heats will take place at the following dates and locations:

A selection of bands will be invited to the Battle of the Bands Final at Exeter Phoenix on 25 February 2025, and could win the chance to professionally record their music and perform at high profile festivals.

Devon Music Education Hub are delighted to offer young musicians from schools and hub supported activities the opportunity to perform on the main stage at Devon County Show 2025. We are looking for young musicians from Devon, Plymouth and Torbay schools to perform on Thursday 15 May and Friday 16 May. Hub supported organisations can apply to perform on Saturday 17 May. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the musical talent of our young people and provide a much needed outlet to perform and experience live music again. As usual, performers and accompanying staff will benefit from free access to the rest of the showground for the whole day.
