It’s our last issue of the year and as usual we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
We do our best to keep the content and structure of our PEN website up-to-date in these fast-changing times and your suggestions on how to improve the website are always welcome.
Wishing You a Happy and Peaceful Festive Period From DCC
As we approach the festive season, we wanted to take a moment to express our thanks for all you’re doing and the incredible care you provide to those who need it most.
This year has brought its challenges, but your dedication, compassion, and resilience have truly made a difference in the lives of so many. Your work not only supports individuals but also strengthens our entire community.
Because of you and your work the communities and neighbourhoods of Devon are more diverse, stronger and more resilient, and we’re proud to work alongside you and appreciate all that you do.
This year we’ve made changes to how we’re arranged, to be better placed and more effective in how we work with you, ultimately working for better outcomes for people. Thank you for supporting us in doing this and making sure we get it right.
Our relationships will be as important as ever over the coming years as together we ensure we can do the best we can within our means and meet the challenges that we collectively face.
We know that all social care services continue to work over the festive period, but hope you will get a chance to enjoy some time off.
Wishing you, your teams, and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful break, and a New Year filled with health, happiness, and hope.

Business continuity review following Storm Darragh.
Following the recent Storm Darragh, many care providers would have had to implement their Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Following this event it is a good opportunity to reflect on what went well and capture any learnings that can enhance your BCP planning for the future. Further information on BCP’s, DCC winter plan and Provider checklist can be found here
Don’t forget to sign up to and encourage others to include themselves on the National Grid Priority Services Register at: https://www.nationalgrid.co.uk/customers-and-community/priority-services
We would love to hear your success stories on how you used your Business Continuity Plan (BCP) so it can be shared – please send to socialcarebusinessrelations-mailbox@devon.gov.uk
Care Homes: Launching New Consultation and Strengthening Partnerships in 2025
Thank you care homes for your active participation in our recent sessions on the older persons fee model and the residential and nursing contract. Due to the volume of feedback received and taking into consideration the Christmas break, we will be launching the formal consultation in the New Year.
Are your contact details up-to-date?
As we move toward consultation, we encourage providers to update their contact details (especially email addresses) with the Procurement team. We use these details to communicate with providers. It is very important that we reach the correct person in your organisation to receive the consultation pack, appropriate referrals and timely updates from DCC. We do not want you to miss out on any opportunities. Please ensure we have your most recent email address.
Looking ahead to 2025, we aspire to work more collaboratively with our partners within the local authority, NHS colleagues, Devon Care Home Collaborative, and the wider provider market. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to working with you in 2025 and beyond.
Devon County Council and the Devon Integrated Care Board have launched the procurement of a county-wide, Rapid Support Service. This jointly commissioned, intermediate care service will improve the support available for those who are discharged from hospital back to their own home, with a focus on reablement, rehabilitation and recovery, supporting the Discharge to Assess Pathway 1.
It will deliver short-term, goal-focussed support to people who need to regain or build skills to live independently. The service will be procured in 3 lots, based on Northern, Southern and Eastern localities in Devon.
The opportunity to tender for the Rapid Support Service (reference CP2507-24) is open to organisations listed in Lot 3 of the Community Provider Directory (reference CP2374-23). Only those successfully registered and confirmed on Lot 3 (Personal Care) will be eligible to apply.
