Covid, Flu and RSV Vaccination Overview document

The vaccination campaign for Covid-19, flu, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is underway and eligible cohorts include older adults, those in clinical risk groups, and frontline care workers.

Care home residents will receive vaccinations via visiting Primary Care Network Teams, while staff can access vaccinations through various channels, including GP surgeries and pharmacies.

Providers are asked to ensure all eligible individuals are vaccinated by the campaign’s end date of  12 December 12 2024.

The NHS has produced a useful Vaccination Overview covering the three types of vaccination and for further information please contact d-icb.devonvaccinationsupport@nhs.net

Social Care Ombudsman News

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman is reiterating its call for care providers to be required to tell people about its service, after highlighting the relatively small number of cases it deals with about the independent sector.

In its Annual Review of Adult Social Care Complaints 2023-24, the number of complaints about privately funded and arranged care has dropped by 15%, following a continued trend over the past few years. This number, the Ombudsman says, is far lower than it would expect given the sector’s proportion of the care market. Over the past year, the Ombudsman received 2,982 complaints about adult care, with just 333 of those being from people who fund their own care.
