County Care Home Forum on Tuesday 22 October
The next County Care Home Forum will be held on MS Teams on 22 October, from 2-3pm.
This is an open invitation for all care homes within the Devon County Council footprint to connect with Devon’s Care with Accommodation Team, NHS Devon, Commissioners, and other professionals. Participants will be able to:
- Share and receive vital information on key topics of interest and concern.
- Get involved in care home commissioning work.
- Learn about important national and local care home priorities.
The agenda and registration link will be sent out this week via GovDelivery.

The Oral Health Improvement Team have a range of in-person and online training now available for social care providers. If you’re interested in finding out more email the team on rduh.ohesds@nhs.net or book your place on the links below.

Covid, Flu and RSV Vaccination Overview document
The vaccination campaign for Covid-19, flu, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is underway and eligible cohorts include older adults, those in clinical risk groups, and frontline care workers.
Care home residents will receive vaccinations via visiting Primary Care Network Teams, while staff can access vaccinations through various channels, including GP surgeries and pharmacies.
Providers are asked to ensure all eligible individuals are vaccinated by the campaign’s end date of 12 December 12 2024.

- Care certificate knowledge
- Safe manual handling
- Introduction to understanding safeguarding
- Understanding specific needs in health care and social care
Taking place just one day per week for 11 weeks, you can upskill your team at low cost to ensure they are equipped with the latest knowledge and best practice.

The Northam Care Trust win National Award – Good News Story
North Devon’s Northam Care Trust has won the prestigious Care Home Provider of the Year category in the Leaders in Care Awards 2024, which recognises providers who have made strides this year to grow their business and the community it serves.
The Northam Care Trust has recently invested in a disability accessible training hub where all staff receive bespoke specialist training in all aspects of their role. Additionally, it prides itself on reaching out to the community, breaking down barriers and stigmatisation of disabilities through its partnerships with local schools, social enterprises and mentoring allied health care placements for students
