The next county council elections are in May next year, and right now, we're encouraging people to consider becoming a candidate. We've launched a campaign to raise awareness of the opportunity to help improve the lives of people in Devon.

A new Occupational Health (OH) provider, Optima Health, has been procured to support employee wellbeing at Devon County Council starting from Friday 18 October 2024.
Pause in management referrals: From 5pm on Friday 4 October to Thursday 17 October 2024 managers will not be able to submit a new occupational health referral for their staff. This is necessary to support the transition between OH providers. If you believe that you have an urgent referral need, please contact HR Direct on 01392 385555.

All employees can find out more about the transfer of medical files from our current OH Provider, Heales Medical. If you wish to object to the transfer of your health records, please email our HR Direct mailbox by today (Friday 11 October 2024).
Introducing our new Therapeutic Wellbeing Service for care leavers
A new team to help our care experienced young people to navigate the mental health system has fully launched this week.
The Therapeutic Wellbeing Service for care leavers will support access to existing mental health services, identify gaps in provision, and advocate for young people in strategic meetings. They will also be able to offer some therapeutic support themselves.

Finance and Public Value Team Finalists in National Awards
Our Finance and Public Value Team has collaborated with Devon Assurance Partnership (DAP), Liberata and the District Councils to review the Council Tax Single Person Discount (SPD) for the County.
This has led to the team reaching the finals of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV) Awards for Excellence in Partnership Working (Financial Sustainability) on Wednesday 9 October.

It was a tough category with over 50 entrants, so although we didn't win, we were all delighted to be chosen as finalists and to attend the ceremony as guests of GWR.

As an employer, DCC follows national guidance and offers seasonal influenza (flu) vaccination to key staff. We have updated our flu vaccination guide for staff and are encouraging all those who are eligible to receive it.

Black History Month 2024

The theme of Black History Month 2024 is #ReclaimingNarratives, supporting the voices of Black communities across the country to share their, stories, history, and their truth.
Locally, Devon Development Education has been supporting a project called ‘Telling Our Stories Finding Our Roots’. A community heritage and oral history project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Find out more on Inside Devon.
