Safeguarding Adult Concern Guidance Reminder

Please remember that guidance is available for Providers to support decision-making on when to raise a safeguarding adult concern referral. It can be accessed on the Torbay and Devon Safeguarding Adults Partnership website: Policy and guidance - Devon Safeguarding Adults Partnership.

The Devon Care Home Collaborative contributed to and led on parts of the development of this guidance, first published in 2022 with the centralisation of Devon County Council Safeguarding Adults Hubs into one Devon Safeguarding Adults Service.

Please note that the guidance should be used in conjunction with professional judgement and is not a substitute for the policies and procedures required of organisations who provide care and support services to ensure safe care. Providers can contact the Devon Safeguarding Adults Service for support where such decisions require further discussion.

Heanton Nursing Home wins Italian-Themed 'Armchair Day Out' - Good News Story

Heanton Nursing Home in Barnstaple was recently named 'Care Home of the Day' by Creed Food Services during an off-site training day at Nisbets in Bristol.

Their reward was an Italian-themed ‘armchair day out’ celebration held at the care home featuring Italian cuisine, red, white and green decorations and, of course, joyful company of friends, and families.

Following a vibrant mocktail party the day before, the team created an unforgettable day starting by transforming the lounge with vibrant honeycombed balls, flags and table settings, before inviting families to join in the festivities. There was something for everyone, from dancing and postcard writing to playing a variety of instruments — all leading up to the main event of pizza and ice cream, so giving the chefs a well-deserved break.

Tracy Grant, Group Catering Lead for the Evolve Care Group that Heanton is part of, praised the team: “Katie, John, Gerry and Danielle were brilliant at the catering training.  They are a credit to their home, and I hope they got as much out of the day as I did!”
