DCC Care Home Contract Engagement Webinar: Key Takeaways for Providers
In a recent webinar on 10 July, Devon County Council (DCC) opened discussions with care home providers on the 'Residential and Nursing Home Care - Pre-Placement Agreement 2018', the current DCC Care Home contract. 10th July Slides - In County Residential & Nursing Contract.pdf
Here are the salient points from the meeting:

Reviewing the Fee Model: DCC have committed to reviewing the older persons fee model and the Terms and Conditions of the 'Residential and Nursing Home Care - Pre-Placement Agreement 2018'.

Provider Concerns: Providers raised issues in the meeting related to the current terms and conditions, assessment timeframes, and annual fee reviews.

Consistent Application: The current overarching contract applies uniformly to all providers within the DCC footprint. Other local authorities operate a framework arrangement with a more formal procurement process which was outlined in the meeting.

Hatherleigh Nursing Home Hosts Relatives BBQ and Ice Cream Celebration - Good News Story
Hatherleigh Nursing Home had a fantastic time whilst hosting their Relatives' BBQ, inviting loved ones and friends into their Okehampton home. Residents, who the home refer to as family members, welcomed their relatives and friends to a day of community celebration. Whilst the home regularly holds meetings for relatives alike to connect, this time they decided to make it an all-day event in the sunshine.
The event kicked off in the afternoon when the homes big BBQ was fired up, filling the air with mouthwatering aroma of grilled meats and vegetables. The BBQ created a lively and communal atmosphere, as everyone gathered and mingled to enjoy the delicious food and each other’s company. The fun continued with the arrival of the Cold 'n' Rolled, a family run business that uniquely crafts and rolls ice cream desserts, as it was conveniently National Ice Cream Day to!
Maintenance team, Dave and Jamie, hand-built an impressive tiki bar from scratch, crafting every detail with care and precision, whilst the rest of the team decorated it with colourful, tropical flair. The tiki bar was a hit, and it quickly became a favourite spot for everyone. Visitors laughed and took turns taking photos with loved ones at the comical beach screens, The garden was fully transformed into a hub of activity.
Hatherleigh Nursing Home is thankful to all the team that helped make this event possible, as well as the visitors from the community who came to experience first hand the welcoming atmosphere that defines their home. This event was a wonderful opportunity for relatives, team and family members to unite, celebrating the strong sense of community that thrives within the homes walls. The day highlighted not only the home’s commitment to creating meaningful connections, but also the vibrant, supportive environment that makes Hatherleigh a home.
