Pasture to Plate
Food and farming stakeholders come together at the South Devon Food Hub
An audience from across the local food and farming landscape joined us at the South Devon Food Hub’s inaugural event, Pasture to Plate, on Tuesday 09 July.
The day was a collaboration between the South Devon Food Hub, Devon Agri-Tech Alliance, and Devon Food Partnership. A range of expert speakers discussed future challenges and opportunities within Devon’s food and farming sector, while innovative local food and drink businesses shared their firsthand experience.
Situated at Longcombe near Totnes, the South Devon Food Hub is a new, on-farm space for local artisan food and drink producers to collaborate and share resources and advice. In the future, the Hub intends to offer shared facilities for local businesses and to host educational school visits.
Pasture to Plate was part of the SPF-funded Agri-Events series taking place across East Devon, Mid Devon, West Devon, and the South Hams.

Torbay Food Partnership joins the Sustainable Food Places Network
Torbay is one of 17 new food partnerships to join the Sustainable Food Places network, which now has over 100 members across the UK, each working to make local, healthy and sustainable food available to all.
The Torbay Food Partnership is hosted by LocalMotion and includes active local citizens, community builders, and people working on partnerships, as well as the environment, climate emergency, tourism, economic development, and health across community organisations, the NHS, and Torbay Council.
In Torbay, a key piece of work is helping to start community gardens so that people can grow more locally, and helping to reduce health inequalities by making healthier food options more accessible and affordable.

Following high interest in the SPF-funded Agri-Innovation programme in the South Hams and West Devon, the programme is now open to all Devon farmers thanks to funding from the Satellite Applications Catapult.
Delivered by Business Information Point (BIP), the programme offers farmers one-to-one bespoke support from a dedicated agri-advisor.
