The team from Westcountry Rivers Trust have been developing the augmented reality sandbox table, to be used as an engagement tool. The sand can be modelled to provide an excellent visual representation of a catchment, and how water flows across the land. It is an interactive tool, where people can move the sand, add in buildings or flood interventions and simulate rainfall to demonstrate the effectiveness of different flood management techniques. We took the table to the 'Flood and Coast' conference in June, where it was displayed as part of the FCIP stall and received lots of positive feedback. We can't wait to use the sand table at future community events across Devon. |
