Data and Assessment Update: Assessments and Guidance 2024

Guidance

A reminder of the guidance that has been published by the DfE for this academic year:

• Early years foundation stage handbook
• Phonics screening check assessment and reporting arrangements
• Key stage 2 assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA)
• KS2 Access arrangements
• KS2 timetable variation guidance
• KS2 test scripts

For a more comprehensive list visit our website where you will also find the assessment dates for 2023 – 2024. Key stage 1 is optional from 2023-2024 but there is guidance provided by the DfE if you wish to continue with any aspects of the assessments.

Data Collection

Deadline dates are as follows:

• Early years foundation stage profiles – Friday 28 June 2024
• Phonics Screening check and Phonics screening rechecks – Monday 24 June 2024
• Key stage 2 teacher assessments need to be submitted in the PAG (Primary Assessment Gateway) by the 28 June 2024.

Key Stage 2 Moderation

As per the KS2 ARA local authorities can begin to inform schools if they will receive a KS2 moderation visit for English writing teacher assessments from 17 May 2024. Schools receiving a KS2 moderation visit will be invited to an online briefing on the 22 May 2024. Full details will be provided in the moderation notification email.
